I will discuss instanton-monopoles, constituents of instantons with magnetic monopole character, and their connection to confinement in QCD-like theories. They have shown themselves to be responsible for confinement in several QCD like theories such as deformed Yang-Mills theory, Super-Yang Mills theory, Super QCD and QCD(adj), i.e. QCD with adjoint flavor fermions. I will give a pedagogical overview of their importance in calculable regimes and also discuss the relevance of these objects to pure Yang-Mills and problems which are involved in calculations there.
