Description
After an introduction to the controversial problem of Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (LENR) catalyzed by neutrons on metallic hydride surfaces we present the results of an experiment, made in collaboration with ENEA Labs in Frascati, to search neutrons from plasma discharges in electrolytic cells. We also discuss the problems met with the Widom-Larsen-Srivastava theory, considered by some authors as the main motivation to continue the experimental and technological research on LENR. The negative outcome of our experiment and the fragile theoretical framework go in the direction of ruling out the possibility of LENR to occur in condensed matter systems under specific conditions.
