Description
Today the cloud is the answer for an increasing number of different computing related needs, ranging from just a place to drop some pictures and share them with friends up to the hundreds of processors required for a complex simulation. As a consequence, the number of potential cloud users increases accordingly. The LNGS IT department will deliver a cloud computing tutorial for anybody might be interested in knowing more about the subject.
The tutorial will start with a quick presentation of the general characteristics of the cloud computing model and its underlying technologies. A short overview of related activities at INFN and LNGS will also be given and our plans for a seamless integration with the existing IT infrastructure will be described.
The second part of the tutorial will be dedicated to describing the cloud infrastructure at LNGS and how it can be effectively exploited by users and working groups. A step by step guide to the creation and customization of virtual hosts will be the core of the tutorial.
