Description
I will discuss some aspects of non-perturbative renormalization in the context of lattice gauge theories, focusing on the use of finite volume schemes and their application to scale dependent renormalization. Among these schemes, the most practical ones are those based on the Schrödinger Functional (SF). I will discuss the standard lattice formulation of the SF with Wilson quarks and a recently proposed setup with chirally rotated boundary conditions, known as the Chirally Rotated Schrödinger Functional (χSF), which implements the mechanism of automatic O(a) improvement. If time allows, I will briefly consider the application of SF schemes in the study of gauge theories beyond QCD.
