Generalized Transverse Momentum Distributions

Orbital angular momentum of partons in the nucleon can be described in terms of specific Wigner distributions. We show that their purely momentum space counterparts, or the corresponding generalized transverse momentum distributions, can enter the deeply virtual Compton scattering amplitude only through matrix elements involving a final state interaction. These twist three contributions will therefore provide the much sought after observables related to orbital angular momentum.
