Description
After a very successful data taking the ATLAS experiment is being upgraded to cope with the higher luminosity and center of mass energy that the Large Hadron Collider will provide in the next years. The Fast Tracker Trigger (FTK) system, part of the upgrade program, is a highly parallel hardware device designed to operate at the Level 1 trigger output rate. FTK will provide the full track reconstruction in the inner detector with resolution comparable to the full offline reconstruction as input to the Level 2 trigger processing. The results obtained for the Technical Design Report of FTK, recently approved by the ATLAS collaboration, will be presented focusing on the expected physics performance in the environement of luminosities up to 3x10^34cm^-2s^-1 and high pile-up.
