Description
Graphene has focalized in the last 10 years the research activity on the fundamental physics and technological applications of two-dimentional systems. New actors have however recently entered on the stage, in particular dichalcogenides, as MoS2 and similar compounds. Also these materials, like graphene, can be exfoliated to reach atomically thickness. In this talk I will present an overview of the recent research developments on these materials, discussing their electronic, lattice and magnetic properties, which can have interesting application to electronics, spintronics and strain-engineering.
