Description
Granular materials are ubiquitous in nature. They are also an important agent in many industries and technological processes. One of the problems of interest is the behavior of granular dynamics in the range of low densities, so that the Boltzmann or Enskog kinetic equations may be applied, with appropriate modifications done in order to take into account the effect of loss of kinetic energy in the collisions. We have derived the whole set of steady base states for a granular gas in Couette-Fourier geometry. Moreover, we have found that the classification of steady flows: 1- encompasses flows for both elastic and inelastic gases in the same general classification. 2- is the same found for Newtonian and non-Newtonian hydrodynamic descriptions of the gas.
