The JLab 12 GeV upgrade will achieve unprecedented precision in the study of the partonic structure of the nucleon. This will enable us to derive multi-dimensional images of parton distributions in coordinate and momentum space, including their dependence on spin. I will present an overview of this field of research, focusing on some selected examples and illustrating some possible outcomes.

Recent progress in the application of lattice QCD to meson spectroscopy has lead to a picture of the hadron spectrum in which gluonic excitations play a role. I will present the results of this theoretical work along with the prospects for discovery of a spectrum of 'hybrid mesons' at GlueX and CLAS12.

I will discuss how the 12 GeV upgrade at Jefferson Lab can impact our understanding of QCD in the nucleus, focusing in particular on nucleon in-medium modifications, the EMC effect, and quark propagation through cold QCD matter. The possibilities offered by the 12 GeV upgrade at Jefferson Lab will be considered in the context of the recent experimental and theoretical progress, and of the...

Jefferson Lab is preparing for several precision experiments that
will test the Standard Model and probe for new physics.
Many of these experiments will take advantage of the capabilities of the upgraded 12 GeV accelerator.
They will probe diverse processes ranging from axial particles to parity-violating
electron-electron scattering. I will give an overview of the
precision frontier...
