Description
The seminar goes through the past 100 years of studies of the atomic nucleus. 2011 marks the centenary of the discovery of the nucleus by Ernest Rutherford. The centenary of Marie Curie's Nobel Prize in Chemistry is also celebrated. These two events mark the beginning of a science that would revolutionize physics and change the course of history. from that moment onward, the nucleus has revealed itself in many different states: magic, deformed, rotating, exotic and... still rich of surprises!
