Description
ABSTRACT

Since the early stages of its design the evaluation of the dynamic aperture for the CERN LHC machine has been a key activity and a large amount of resources was devoted to these studies. The current performance of the LHC confirms that no issues related to non-linear, single-particle beam dynamics effects are observed. In this talk the techniques developed for studying the dynamic aperture of the LHC will be presented and discussed together with an overview of the results achieved. The recently approved High-Luminosity upgrade (HL-LHC) is reviving the interest for this type of studies. The future plans will also be presented and discussed.
