X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy in off-equilibrium systems

In this talk I will present some recent XPCS results on the dynamics of complex fluids driven out of equilibrium by the application of shear. Two different experimental strategies are used to drive the system out of equilibrium. In the first experiment, low or high density colloidal suspensions and/or colloidal gels are flown through a microfluidic device. In the second experiment, the dynamics of colloidal depletion gels during the slow aging that follows a shear rejuvenation process was measured using two-time correlations.
