Description
Measuring the couplings of the Higgs boson at the LHC will be an important goal, as they can give important information to clarify the mechanism behind the electroweak symmetry breaking and distinguish different theoretical scenarios. The process of Higgs-pair production via gluon fusion is sensitive to non-linear interactions of the Higgs boson. This channel has been studied in the context of the Standard Model, focusing on the extraction of the Higgs trilinear coupling. In a general model-independent parametrization of New Physics effects, however, it can be useful to test also an even more interesting interaction: the t-tbar-H-H coupling. This interaction vanishes in the Standard Model and is a genuine signature of theories in which the Higgs boson emerges from a strongly-interacting sector. I present a phenomenological analysis of the detectability of anomalous Higgs couplings at the LHC and show that, while the sensitivity to the trilinear is poor, the perspectives of measuring the new t-tbar-H-H coupling are rather promising.
