Description
Monte Carlo simulations are a key tool in the design and operation of particle accelerators and detectors. This seminar introduces FLUKA, a general-purpose particle transport code widely used for radiation studies, shielding design, and detector applications.

After a brief overview of the underlying physics models, the focus will shift to practical aspects of setting up and running simulations in complex geometries and high-radiation environments. In particular, we will look at the evaluation of energy deposition, particle fluence, and residual dose, which are central to both performance studies and radiation protection.

Selected examples from accelerator applications will be used to illustrate typical workflows, from geometry implementation to data analysis. The seminar aims to provide a clear picture of FLUKA’s capabilities and how it can be effectively used in realistic simulation studies.
