Description

I will discuss some ideas developed over the past years on how string-inspired holography can make contact with real-world QCD, both at high temperature and high baryon density. Suitably engineered holographic models can capture many qualitative and even semi-quantitative features of strongly coupled QCD. I will briefly review how such models can be used to study the quark-gluon plasma, the QCD phase diagram, and dense matter relevant for neutron stars.
