Description
I will discuss the Gravitational Poissonian Spontaneous Localization (GPSL) model, a hybrid classical-quantum model in which classical Newtonian gravity emerges from stochastic collapses of the mass density operator and consistently couples to quantum matter. With respect to the widely more studied hybrid models based on continuous weak monitoring, GPSL differs in many aspects. Among them, it ensures stability of the vacuum, thus making it a promising starting point for a relativistic extension.
I will then discuss observational consequences such as the unavoidable spontaneous diffusion that comes with any such theory. This leads to estimates for neutron-star spontaneous heating, center-of-mass spontaneous diffusion, and spontaneous emission of light from charged particles. These estimates allow us to set lower and upper bounds on the model parameters.
