The International School "Francesco Romano" on Nuclear, Subnuclear and Astroparticle Physics is targeted particularly at young postdocs and PhD students working in experimental High Energy Physics and phenomenology.

According to its tradition, besides lectures in high energy theoretical and experimental Physics applicative topics will be covered.

One of the main purposes of the school is to stimulate the interactions between the young attendants and the lecturers.

In the 2026 edition,  lectures will cover the following topics:

  • Unsolved Problems in Particle Physics (Michelangelo Mangano - CERN)
  • Experimental Perspectives at High Luminosity LHC (Luca Malgeri - CERN)
  • The Cosmic Microwave Background (Martina Gerbino - INFN, Ferrara)
  • The Era of Gravitational Waves (Elisa Maggio - INFN, Roma1)
  • AI in Physics (Daniele Bonacorsi - University of Bologna)
  • New Technologies in Hadrontherapy (Marco Durante - GSI, Darmstadt)

The lecture series will be complemented by two shorter seminars:

  • Ethical Issues in Research
  • Tabletop Experiment in Physics

The School will include a session where participants may choose to give a short presentation of their work. A prize will be awarded for the best presentation.

The School will be held at the Porto Giardino resort in Monopoli, near Bari. As part of the School, a public event aimed at Science Outreach  will be held in the city center of Bari.
