I will talk about tests of general relativity in the postmerger phase of black hole binaries. After an overview of the current analysis, focusing on the strongest constraints given by GW250114, I will tackle the problem of how to model deviations in the ringdown in absence of an underlying theory. I am going to present several ways to parametrize quasi-normal modes of rotating and non-rotating black holes beyond general relativity, comparing them against known cases in specific theories.
