Rome at Its Origins, Under the Stars

Evening guided walk through the heart of Rome, discovering the origins of the Eternal City under its most evocative light. Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, participants will explore iconic landmarks while retracing the myths, history, and atmosphere of ancient Rome.

Evening itinerary
When the light is still warm and the city begins to glow

Palatine Hill Belvedere

The view over the imperial ruins of the Palatine Palace in the background.  A short retelling of the legend of Romulus and Remus to dive straight into the myth.

Circus Maximus

The remains of the central "spina" lit up, with the story of the “Rape of the Sabine Women” and the chariot races giving a sense of the ancient crowd of 150,000 spectators.

Foro Boario – Temple of Hercules Victor, Temple of Portunus & Mouth of Truth
The remains of these temples remind us of the presence of ancient Rome’s Emporium port, the arrival point for goods coming from all over the Mediterranean.

Climb to the Capitoline Hill and Piazza del Campidoglio by Michelangelo
The view over the Roman Forum and the Colosseum valley, lit up, is the highlight of the evening. Silence, warm lights, no cars. Perfect for explaining the political and religious function of the Forum.

Closing: Vittoriano, Portico of Octavia & the Jewish Ghetto
From the Capitoline we’ll descend toward the Altar of the Fatherland "Vittoriano", lit up, closes the circle between ancient and modern Rome,  and the chance to finish with a glass of wine in one of the many places in the area of the Portico of Octavia and the Theatre of Marcellus.
