Description
Within the Euclidean path-integral formalism of lattice quantum chromodynamics, connected quark and disconnected sea quarks appear as distinct contributions to lattice calculations of the electromagnetic form factors (FFs). Analogous partitioning exists for combined lattice and phenomenological extractions of parton distribution functions (PDFs). In this work, we show that lattice calculations of the FFs and the path integral-based decomposition of partonic degrees of freedom in PDFs can be unified through generalized parton distributions (GPDs). We employ a GPD model to demonstrate this unification and provide a novel interpretation of the experimentally determined flavor-separated PDFs and GPDs at low Bjorken x.
