Description

Relativistic heavy ion collisions produce intense electromagnetic fields, offering a unique opportunity to study photon-induced interactions. These phenomena are primarily investigated in ultra-peripheral collisions (UPCs), where the impact parameters exceed the sum of the nuclear radii. In UPCs, di-lepton and di-hadron pairs generated from photon-photon interactions carry the information from initial EM fields, while vector mesons from photon-nuclear interactions are sensitive probes of the gluon parton distribution function in the target nucleus/nucleon.

This presentation highlights recent STAR experiment measurements, focusing on the results in UPCs. Furthermore, we will discuss spin-induced orbital angular momentum (OAM) effects within these production mechanisms.
