How to reach INFN - Pisa

By Plane

The closest airport is Pisa International Airport “Galileo Galilei” (PSA), located about 2 km from the city center.
From the airport you can reach Pisa Centrale railway station in just 5 minutes using the PisaMover shuttle train (departures every 5–8 minutes). Taxis and buses are also available.

If you are landing at Florence Airport (Peretola - FLR), you can reach Pisa in the following ways:

By Tram + Train

  • From the airport, take the T2 tramway line (direction Unità) to Firenze Santa Maria Novella railway station. The ride takes about 20 minutes.

  • From Firenze S.M.N. station, direct trains to Pisa Centrale run approximately every 30 minutes. Travel time is about 1 hour.

  • Tickets can be purchased at vending machines, ticket offices, or online (Trenitalia, Italo).

 

By Shuttle Bus

  • There are also direct shuttle buses from Florence Airport to Pisa Airport (companies such as Caronna Tour or Terravision operate this route).

  • The journey takes around 1 hour 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

  • Tickets can be booked online or purchased on board.

By Train

Pisa is well connected to major Italian cities. From Pisa Centrale railway station you can take bus lines 4 or 21 towards “Porta a Lucca” and get off at the stop Paradisa, which is close to the INFN building.
Alternatively, a taxi ride from the station takes about 10 minutes.

By Car

  • From Florence (A11 motorway): follow directions to Pisa, then take the Pisa Nord exit and continue towards the city center.

  • From Genoa/Livorno (A12 motorway): exit at Pisa Centro and follow the signs to Pisa.
    Parking is available near the INFN site, though spaces may be limited.

By Bus (Local Transport)

The nearest bus stop is Paradisa, served by bus lines 4 and 21. Tickets can be purchased at newsstands, tobacco shops, or via mobile apps.
