How to reach Catania Airport and the historic city center
Catania is easily accessible by air or train. We recommend flying to Catania International Airport (CTA), which is served by several major and low-cost airlines.
From the airport, you can reach the historic city center in two main ways:
-
ALIBUS shuttle service (AMTS)
The ALIBUS connects the airport with the downtown area.-
Ticket price: 4 € (can be purchased directly on board).
-
Route map and stops ("Percorso").
-
Timetable ("Feriale" = Monday–Saturday; "Festivo" = Sunday).
-
Example of an ALIBUS bus: link to picture.
-
-
Taxi
A taxi ride to the city center typically costs 20–25 €, depending on the time of day and the company. The most reliable and usually cheapest option is RadioTaxi (+39 095330966).
Accommodation
Catania offers a wide range of accommodation options. We recommend choosing a hotel in the city center (around Via Etnea, Villa Bellini, Piazza Stesicoro, Viale XX Settembre, or Piazza del Duomo). Staying in this area will give you easy access to public transport to reach the conference venue, as well as plenty of restaurants for dinner.
