In this seminar, I will present my contributions to the accelerator development efforts within the Anthem, ESS, and SPES projects. By working within the same team on projects at different stages of maturity, provides a unique opportunity to gain a rich interdisciplinary experience that enhances performance across all phases of design, realization and commissioning (and delivery), which will be represented by different activities.
The main topics covered will include: the design of high field-uniformity dipoles for the SPES HRMS and the development of the heat dissipator for the high-power target in the Anthem project. The refurbishing process of the TRIPS source. The tuning of RF structures—specifically those that are long relative to the RF wavelength—to compensate for construction imperfections and thermal deformations during operation, followed by RF conditioning to reach nominal field levels. In particular, I will discuss the experimental (and successful) experiences with the ESS DTL and SPES RFQ.
