SiPM related projects and perspectives at SMI Vienna

Description
At the Stefan Meyer Institute (SMI), studies on the application of new matrix avalanche photo-detectors operating in Geiger-mode (SiPMs) are performed. We are investigating the properties of SiPMs, e.g. temperature dependence, dark noise, timing performance, etc., to find the optimum sensors for applications like the readout of scintillating fiber detectors or Cherenkov detectors. This talk will give an overview of past and recent projects at the the Stefan Meyer Institute as well as an outlook on the future.
