If you come by PLANE:
The nearest airport to Padova is the Marco Polo International Airport in Venice (VEN), about 40 km East from Padova, conveniently linked with all major European airports.
Other airports near Padova are in Treviso, Verona and Bologna, but the transfer from any of these to Padova is more difficult than from Venice.
We do not recommend landing at Milan Malpensa (MPX) or Bergamo (BGY), as you will need to take more than three hours (two for BGY) to reach Padua.
From the Venezia airport you can choose:
- BusItalia: bus service directly connecting the Venice Airportt to Padova (terminal next to the railway station). The timetable and more useful information can be found here;
- Trenitalia: the Venice Airport is connected to the Venezia Mestre railway station by bus (ACTV line 15) and by the shuttle bus ATVO Mestre Express. It takes about 25 minutes to reach the railway station and 30 minutes by train from Venezia Mestre to Padova;
- AIRSERVICE: a private shuttle minibus can be booked to collect participants at the airport and drive them directly to their hotels. The fare starts from 44 € per person. The service must be booked at least 48 hours in advance by email or webform, indicating date, time and flight number, hotel address;
- Landomas: a private shuttle minibus service or vehicle with driver service. The service must be booked at least 24 hours in advance by email or by telephone (+39 0498600382), indicating date, time and flight number. The fare is about 30 € per person to Padova: since it is a collective service, the cost can vary according to the total number of people;
- GoOpti: shuttle service that can be reserved on the website. Reservations must be made at least two days before the transfer date. Last-minute reservations may be available at a higher cost. Fares for shared transfer should stay within 35-50 € per person, depending on time of booking and time and date of arrival. Private transfers are available and should cost around 100 €;
- Radiotaxi: taxi service that can be booked (Tel. +39.041.595.1402 or email info@radiotaxivenezia.it) for a direct transfer from the airport to Padova. This is, however, the most expensive solution.
If you come by TRAIN:
Padova is very well connected by train with the rest of Italy and with the nearer Europe countries. The city is both on the Venezia-Milano-Torino and the Venezia-Roma train routes, so many trains are available daily.
To plan your trip at best, we invite you to check both Trenitalia and Italo for the times, prices and to purchase electronic tickets. Tickets can also be bought from ticket machines: these can be found in all stations.
If you come by CAR:
Padova is connected to Eastern and Western Europe through the A4 highway. From Northern Europe the main entries are the A9 highway to Milan and then A4 to Padova or the A22 highway to Verona and then A4 to Padova.
A13 highway connects Padova to the South of Italy.
The meeting location is in the historical center and not many free parking places are available.
Some parking areas are in Via Corso Milano, Piazza Dante, via Giotto, Piazza Rabin.
There is also a closer parking area (9-minute walk from the Workshop venue): car park.
Please note that all parking areas have a ticket to be paid (different rates).
Once you reach Padova:
Padova is one of the cultural and economic centres in the North-East of Italy, in the Veneto region, 40 kilometres from Venice.
Because of traffic and parking issues, we recommend using the public transport. Moving inside the city is easy and you can take both trams and buses (see map here). For tickets and information, you can visit the website or download the app Busitalia Veneto.
One of the best way to visit Padova is however by bike: you can download the app RideMovi.
Depending on the accommodation of your choice, moving by foot is also an excellent option to enjoy the city.
If you prefer to use a taxi, you will find many of them at the exit of the train station.
If you want to extend your stay, you have also the option to rent a car (Europcar, Hertz and Avis are the agencies close to the train station).
