Measurements of the production of a  Z boson  in association with b-jets (Z+b-jets) in proton-proton collisions at the LHC
improve the understanding of perturbative QCD, are sensitive to the proton PDFs and constitute a valuable input for the improvement of the Monte Carlo simulations used to estimate this background in  measurements of the Higgs boson and searches of New Physics.
In this seminar the speaker will provide an overview of the published measurements performed by the ATLAS experiment and she will discuss prospects for future measurements in this sector.
