From the train station: go straight from out of the station on the large boulevard Viale Gramsci. Pass the Vittorio Emanuele square and take Via Italia, that will bring you to Ponte di Mezzo.
Walk along Borgo Stretto, a medieval street with arches on the sides. Continue onto Borgo Largo, after the arches end, and turn right on Via San Lorenzo. Pass the large Santa Caterina square until you meet Largo Bruno Pontecorvo. You'll see a big building of the Dipartimento di Matematica.
