Messina is easily reachable from two airports:
From Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA)
Catania Airport is the main hub for reaching Messina and is served by many international and domestic flights.
By Direct Shuttle (Recommended):
Daily direct shuttle buses connect Catania Airport to Messina Central Station (approx. 2h). Tickets can be purchased online or at the airport. Main operator: SAIS Autolinee.
By Train:
Take the AMTS Alibus from the airport to Catania Centrale station (15-20 minutes), then board a regional train to Messina Centrale (1h 30m - 2h).
From Reggio Calabria Airport (REG)
While geographically closer, Reggio Calabria airport offers fewer flight connections.
By Taxi + Ferry:
Take a taxi or local bus from the airport to the Reggio Calabria Port (approx. 10 minutes). From there, take a hydrofoil (Liberty Lines) or ferry to Messina port (crossing time: 30-45 minutes). The port is very close to both the city center and conference venue.
