As a result of the Hands-on Training on Operation, Test and Repairs of Hyper Pure Ge Detectors 2024, finished in Sept 7th 2024 we are proposing now the creation of a Community of HPGe Experts as Spin-off of the workshop. This survey is the first phase of this activity.
The first phase of this proposal is a Survey that we will distribute among the participants to the Hands-on Workshop to evaluate:
- the Hands-on 2024 and propose improvements of the next one;
- the interest of the Expert's in creating this community;
- to find the best instruments for this task;
- to evaluate the situation of the HPGe dets labs at ten years of the EGAN (EU Seventh Framework Programme - FP7) Survey on Detector Maintenance and Repair Capabilities, 2012.
About the Hands-on workshop 2024
The Instrumentation and Training for Nuclear Spectroscopy and Reaction Dynamics (InTraNS Task 2.5 - C5 of EURO-LABS) has taken the challenge of providing expertise for an optimal employment of the experimental setups for nuclear spectroscopy and nuclear reactions available in the Europe.
In the framework of these training activities, the INTRANS Scientific Committee have proposed the Hands-on Training on Operation, Test and Repairs of Hyper Pure Ge Detectors 2024, addressed specially to physicists, technologists and technicians involved in operation, maintenance and repairing of any type of gamma HPGe detectors.
The aim of that training was to exchange the knowledge already available in the community, summarizing problems and solutions for the different types of high resolution gamma ray Ge detectors, running today in Europe, i.e. from single tapered crystals to AGATA clusters. This exchange will help also to the consolidation of the community of experts on HPGe Detectors in Europe, as an additional goal for this Hands-on Training.
This training activity was a continuation of similar workshops organized in the framework of Nuspin, a network activity of ENSAR2, in 2018 at Cologne and in 2019 in Liverpool.
