On Friday, August 30, a delegation from ShanghaiTech University (STU) visited LASA at the invitation of Prof. Carlo Pagani who also holds the role of Distinguished Adjunct Professor at STU. The delegation, composed of six of his colleagues and accompanied by two officials from the embassy and Consul Liangjun Yao, was led by President and Founder Mianheng Jiang and Vice President Zhiyuan Zhu, the same who in February 2019 in Milan had signed two MoUs, now expired, with Unimi and INFN respectively. For INFN, in addition to Carlo Pagani, the Section Director, the LASA coordinator and several technicians and researchers were present.
The signing of these agreements was a follow-up to the extensive Chinese participation in the TESLA Technology Collaboration meeting hosted in Milan in 2018, in the wake of SHINE and CiADS projects, which are now at an advanced stage of implementation and where the scientific spaces for collaboration are very large, both for accelerator experts and for users.
Although part of a European mission with institutional objectives, the visit to LASA was of an exquisitely informal nature. The delegation showed great interest in the research activities of LASA, discussing with researchers and technicians. The day ended with a convivial lunch and toast at the Bistro in Milano 2, offered by their colleague in Milan.
