Based on the experience gained on the cyclotron operation/maintenance and on the RIB facility at iThemba Labs, the seminar will cover radiation protection related aspects, specifically: ambient dose equivalent rates observed during the operation of the cyclotron; doses to the personnel performing hands-on maintenance; induced radioactivity levels on auxiliary systems and detected radionuclides; environmental samples activation; radiometric and access control system.
