Elisabetta reported that the ERC project is prolonged up to August 2025 and about 2 more Tons of copper made available by Opera. The report of the LNGS Scientific Committee was also discussed. Appreciations for the steps forward plus some issues to be addressed. Next meeting at the beginning of October;
Giorgio on WP2
Some technical updates were done on the reco code on PMT analysis and bug fixing, and other are under development.
Then he reported on the contributions of several people on the analysis:
Rita: confirmed the reliability of LY30 to re-normalise the LIME response and the appearance of a peak at 7.2 keV (probably saturated copper)
Daniel: Studies on dead time. Run duration seems correlated to the physics and it's the correct way to normalise data
Stefano: cross check on virtually empty images, confirms the reliability of run duration for the normalisation
Pedro: analysing on low gain runs is going on
Davide P: correlation between low and high energy parts of the spectrum. There was some suggestion to clean up the alpha sample by cutting the one that are cut by the fiducial volume
Luca Z: outlined the lengths in camera and PMT are not the same. To check the drift velocity dependence on gas pressure
David M: working and optimise the maths between camera and PMT events
Igor P: CNN algorithm seems able to detect low energy spot down to 0.25 keV better than our current reco
Lopes: results on the usage of U-Net to classify noise and signal pixels
Giorgio Dho: found a non saturating regime for 55Fe by using an external electric field
Optics: distance of the camera body is 710 mm, with 20 mm margin from the bellow. A new interesting lens (EHD) with a larger aperture. Pros and cons were illustrated. If the bellow can have 40 mm excursion we can use the size of copper can be fixed to have camera body at 710 mm from GEM
Simulation: next meeting on Monday
WP4:
- document for requirements and specifications at this link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ldVnZN-t4iXgnNmQ8otjlN_2WeyrBTSeeFI_IVX8w14/edit?gid=2056996844#gid=2056996844
- meeting with LNF people to discuss CYGNO 04 layout: https://agenda.infn.it/event/42681/
- 23/07 design strategy approved: we buy NOSV Cu. The cleaning procedure to be investigated
- We buy raw material (10% more than needed according to the designs) for copper, PMMA, H2O
- We flush HeCF4 between PMMA and Copper. Study the possible issues with the relative impedances
- Cross check the available data by Matthias for the validation of the field cage.
- Need to define what other kind of tests we ned to do to choose the final solution;
Dho: presentation on the gas tightness. Under some assumptions (similar to LIME) a leakage rate lesser than few sccm would allow to have less than 1000 Radon events per years in CYGNO04. A similar leakage rate should be guaranteed also from the gas system.
David: simulated 55Fe spots and evaluated the amount of light collected by PMT in different positions. The better position is indicated in the last slide. In particolare an inter-distance of 300 mm is the final indication.
Fabrizio: a short report from the last SC, since most of things were already discussed. In particular about the new author rules that foresees a reduction the time to become authors to 6 months which is also the time when a colleague remains an author after leaving the collaborations.
Next meeting in September.
