Description
The MEG experiment has been taking data since 2008 to search for the lepton flavour violating decay µ->e γ. We present new results based on a combined analysis of 2009 and 2010 data samples, with an overall statistics of 1.8 x 1014 muon decays and a sensitivity of 1.6 x 10-13 to the branching ratio of that decay. The data are shown to be consistent with the null hypothesis at 90% CL, with an upper limit of 2.4 x 10-12, lower by a factor 5 than the previous limit set by MEGA.
We will the discuss on how to improve that sensitivity with both statistics collection and detector upgrades.
