Description
This talk is mainly concerned with possible application of the bound-state beta decay (BSBD) phenomenon
to management of LLFPs, by-products of the nuclear fission energy. First, the nuclear fission energy is briefly introduced and
its major issues including the radioactive spent fuels are addressed. Then, possible impact of the BSBD on the decay half-life
of LLFPs are reviewed with previous works done by Dr. Takahasi and Yokoi. Also, a preliminary new evaluation of the half-life of
bare LLFP atoms are also discussed. In addition, the charge breeding technology for LLFP ionization is briefly reviewed and
a preliminary study to enhance the charge breeding efficiency will be presented. Finally, feasibility of vacuum storage of the
ionized atoms will be briefly and presented in this talk.
