Things to see/do in Pisa

In addition to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which is located a short 10 minutes from the conference venue, the city offers a number of other interesting activities:

A particular recommendation is the Palazzo Blu, which currently hosts the exhibition "Le avanguardie"

featuring works from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Other venues of interest include the Botanical Garden, Museo San Mateo with art from the churches in the Pisa Area, the Museum of Graphical Arts and the Museum of Ancient Boats. All within easy reach of the venue.

Furthermore, the city of Florence can be reached by a direct 1-hour train connection and offers a wealth of other attractions. While in Florence, two of many museums of note are the Uffizi https://www.uffizi.it/en/the-uffizi, a world-leading renaissance art museum (make sure to book in advance), as well as the Bargello https://www.museodelbargello.it/ including numerous sculptures by Michelangelo and Donatello among others (and much less crowded than the Uffizi).  The city of Lucca, the birthplace of Puccini and known for its famous walls, is also reached by a 30-minute train connection. The Carnival in Viareggio https://viareggio.ilcarnevale.com/en/  (on Sunday 18 and Saturday 24)  is also a very short (approx 20-min) train ride away.

Last but not least Pisa offers a vast selection of Restaurants and Coffee Shops for the participants to enjoy.
