GQuEST: Gravity from the Quantum Entanglement of Space Time

A new project at Fermilab, in collaboration with Caltech, will test models of quantum gravity with tabletop interferometers.  I will discuss theoretical motivations for a scalar field that modifies the spacetime metric.  This field manifests as a signal at the output port of an interferometer.  Our design relies on detecting this signal in the sidebands.  Theories have specific predictions of the spectrum of these sidebands which we will pursue with various operation strategies I will discuss.  The technologies we are demonstrating this year will enable the GQuEST project and will also have beneficial application to interferometry and rare process searches.
