Rise of the Machines IIA decade after the deep learning revolution we reflect on progress towards AGI. Using anomaly detection and satellite RFI removal for the SKA as two case studies we explore the pros and cons of rigorous statistical methods compared with deep learning for the next generation of science experiments and reflect on the deeper questions AI raises for the nature of science.
