Description
The first results obtained from the Baryon acoustic Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey on large-scale structure in the Lyman alpha forest will be discussed. Absorption by intergalactic hydrogen is emerging as a new tool for the study of the large-scale distribution of matter in the universe. The characteristic gravitational redshift space distortions have now been detected at redshifts z ~ 2.5 thanks to the unprecentedly large number of quasar spectra being obtained by BOSS, and the signature of Baryon Acoustic Oscillations is expected to be measured soon.
