      Physics Analysis
      Speakers: Giacomo Polesello (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare), Nicolò Valle (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare)
      • Overview
        • HNL -> mu j j’ signature
        • Receipt for jets: Durham kT with variable number of jets, forced in two jets when #jets > 2
        • Prompt muon (low impact parameter at HNL mass >~ 40 GeV). “prompt analysis”
        • Displaced vertex / muon impact parameter at low HNL mass. “Long-lived (LL) analyisis”
      • First draft of analysis note prepared and forwarded to conveners
      • State of the art
        • Still using Spring2021 samples (low stat and some bkg channels not available in Winter2022)
        • Currest samples withtou beam spread (Winter2023: ~400 um along z; ~6 um along x)
        • Parallel study: vertex position smearing added (at Pythia level) to the samples home made (signal and 4-body background) + testing what is available of Z->bb/cc in Winter2023. LL analysis not affected, Prompt analysis still to be fully evaluated
        • Better treatment of bins with zero or low background
          • Looking for patterns in the residual background mainly at low mass. (We aim at zero events at low mass!)
        • Some personal notes at: https://codimd.web.cern.ch/UV3usxGORf-QJopqLB03-A
      • Ongoing:
        • Evaluation of beam spread
        • Asessment of the impact of mass/emiss resolution
      • To be presented at FCC week in June
