ABSTRACT

In this talk we review the most important users' requirements which drive the development of state-of-the-art synchrotron light sources. Their implications on the machine design and operation are discussed and examples drawn from the design and operation of the Diamond light source are be presented. We conclude with some comments on the compatibility of the operation of the SuperB as a light source.
