I will discuss recent progresses on the inclusion of dense matter effects
in parton shower event generators. In particular, I will investigate
the implementation of medium-modified splitting functions within the
HERWIG algorithm. The results on transverse momentum, energy and angular
distributions exhibit a remarkable impact of medium effects and are in
qualitative agreement with the jet quenching observations.
