In the framework of the discussion about "Giorgio Parisi interdisciplinary contributions to theoretical physics" I will introduce the simulated tempering Monte Carlo method. I will also try to frame the analysis by stressing Giorgio innovative approach to algorithms for effective numerical simulations in many different contexts.
