TRACING A COMMUNAL PATH FOR THE ITALIAN COSMOLOGY COMMUNITY

UniVersum is a novel series of cosmology meetings whose main goal is to gather on a regular basis members of the active Italian cosmology community. Besides discussing our many scientific activities, the aim of this series of encounters is also to foster collaborations amongst us and to discuss crucial topics and strategic choices that involve the community at large. Examples of regular informal workshops of this type are common in other European Countries, i.e. IberiCós in Spain and Portugal, or UKcosmo in Great Britain. We feel that also our community could strongly benefit from having a set of meetings with this format. Here is how the idea of UniVersum saw the light of day! What we have in mind is a two-and-a-half day meeting, taking place every year in a different university or research centre all around Italy, featuring short talks from PhD students and post-docs, and extended discussion sessions led by reference senior scientists in various fields of cosmological research. As said, we envisage both usual, scientific debate sessions, as, more importantly, forums where we can discuss crucial questions related to cosmology in Italy.
