Travel information

The workshop will take place in Frascati, a hilltop town located 20 km south-east of Rome. The easiest way to reach Frascati from Rome is to take a train at Roma Termini railway station.

Travelling by train
There is one train per hour between Roma Termini and Frascati, journey time is 30 minutes, the timetable can be checked at the Trenitalia website, and the one-way fare costs €2.10. Ticket can be bought at the train station from machines and at the counter. Please remember that train tickets in Italy must be time-stamped on departure at the green machines located at the beginning of the platforms. The train will also stop in Ciampino, but the train station is 5 km from the airport.

Please be aware that the last train in the evening leaves from Roma Termini at 9:54PM.

Travelling by plane
Rome has two airports: Fiumicino (FCO, website) and Ciampino (CIA, website). There are various low-cost companies flying there (e.g. EasyJet and Ryanair). EasyJet has flights to Rome Fiumicino from Geneva, London, Berlin, and others. Ryanair has flight to Rome Ciampino from Valencia, Porto, London, Berlin, Frankfurt, Karlsrue, and many others.

  • From Fiumicino Airport to Frascati
    • to Roma Termini central railway station by train: take the “Leonardo Express” train; departing up to every 15 minutes; the journey takes about 32 minutes; tickets are available at the airport station and cost €14,00. For more information see Trenitalia website. From Roma Termini take a train to Frascati (see details in “travelling by train”). 
    • to Roma Termini central railway station by bus: there is a number of buses, more information and links are available at the airport website. The journey lasts about 45 minutes. From Roma Termini take a train to Frascati (see details in “travelling by train”). 
  • From Ciampino Airport to Frascati:
    • to Roma Termini central railway station by bus: there are frequent buses going to Roma Termini (e.g. TerravisionSIT or Schiaffini Travel) they leave from the bus station in front of the terminal (check the departure board as you exit the terminal) and tickets can be bought from the driver. The journey lasts about 45 minutes. The cost is €5-7. From Roma Termini take a train to Frascati (see details in “travelling by train”). 
    • It is possible to also go to Frascati from Ciampino airport without going through Roma Termini, but it is more cumbersome. There are a few buses per day (ATRAL) leaving from platform 7 that go to Ciampino Railway Station (tickets cost €1,10). Check the departure board as you exit the terminal. From Ciampino Railway Station take the train to Frascati (see details in “travelling by train”).

Travelling by taxi
It is possible to take a taxi from Ciampino Airport to Frascati (licensed white or yellow cabs are strongly advised). The distance from Ciampino airport is about 15 km and the taxi fare is approximately €60,00. From Fiumicino the distance is about 40 km and the taxi fare could amount to approximately €100,00.

Travelling on departure
