TMD factorization beyond standard processes
The factorization of Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD) observables plays a central role in modern studies on strong interactions, as it represents one of the most elegant and powerful approaches for the investigation of the 3D structure of hadrons.
Nowadays, more and more processes sensitive to TMD effects are becoming pivotal in many experimental scientific programs worldwide. Extending TMD factorization to the largest number of such observables is hence of the
utmost importance for the correct interpretation of the newest experimental results in the light of QCD.
However, such extension of the TMD factorization formalism presents some critical issues, especially associated with the behaviour of soft radiation and the regularization of rapidity divergences.
As an example of such complications, I will show how to properly factorize the thrust distribution of $e^+ e^-$ annihilation into a single hadron, with transverse momentum measured with respect to the thrust axis.
The cross section is presented up to NNLL-accuracy in thrust and compared with BELLE data.
