Description

On May 2nd a group of Physics and Astronomy students of the Radboud University of Nijmegen (the Netherlands) visited the INFN Trieste Division at the Physics Department of the University of Trieste.

The Trieste Division of the INFN has been active since 1958 and has about 280 people working today in various fields. The experimental research activities of the INFN Division of Trieste and of the Udine Associated Group are carried out at major international laboratories, such as CERN in Geneva, the American FermiLab laboratory and the KEK in Japan, as well as the observatory of cosmic radiation which for their part range from laboratories located in the bowels of the earth to satellites in space. In the field of theoretical physics there are solid relations with the ICTP and with SISSA, while medical technological and physics research is carried out in collaboration with specialised centres and with Elettra-Sincrotrone.

The Division organises and promotes national and international events for those working in the field and for the public. It is also active in organising study trips and training for university students and visits to its laboratories for secondary school students.
