BICEP Array and Thermal Kinetic Inductance Detectors

BICEP Array consists of four telescopes that are being installed at the South Pole to observe the large angular scale polarization of the cosmic microwave background. Detecting this polarization pattern, called B-modes, is a challenging task that requires the use of extremely sensitive instrumentation. Thermal Kinetic-Inductance Detectors (TKIDs) combine excellent noise performance with a radio frequency multiplexing architecture. This talk presents the detector development and engineering in preparation for a TKIDs test camera deployment in 2022. I will discuss the noise performance, calibration strategy and laboratory characterization with focus on the readout electronics.
