Abstract:
After the end of Run 2, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is expected to deliver to the CMS experiment an integrated luminosity of 150 fb-1 in Run 3 (2022-24) and up to 3000 fb-1 during the High Luminosity LHC operations (2027-2040).
This seminar will review the status of the CMS experiment and its prospects for Run 3, highlighting the novel aspects of the high-level trigger.
An overview of the main Phase 2 detector upgrades - scheduled for the High Luminosity LHC - will also be provided, with a focus on the contribution of the Pisa group.
