The strongest evidence that our understanding of the laws of   nature is incomplete is arguably provided by astrophysical observations   that suggest the existence of a dark sector and the baryon asymmetry.   Furthermore, the origin of the large scale cosmic magnetic fields or of   the merging black holes detected by gravity wave observatories might   also be related to new physics. I will discuss how these mysteries can   be associated with phase transitions in the early universe and their   possible relation to some of the most energetic phenomena in the   present universe.
